Crab Feed Appreciation
To the Blue Devil Family,
I would like to send out a HUGE thank you to Rebecca Foster for her leadership in making the crab feed a wonderful experience for our parents, volunteer workers (both players and parents) and community members. An undertaking like this takes months of planning, plenty of legwork and organizational acumen. We appreciate her efforts and applaud her on a well-run, enjoyable, and professional event.
I would also like to thank the Crab Feed Planning Team and Parent Helpers(including Martha Bernauer, Anna Ferrera, Margo Roeckl, Eyostra Yarrow, Robin Murray, Mary Bodendorfer,Blanca Boyd, Wendy McCray, Natalie Beckman, Helena Goodison, Culien Ortiz and Rich Riffle who spent hours meeting and working together, then following through on game night to create the efficient and trouble free evening that we were fortunate to experience. Special thanks go out to this same crew along with our AD, Dennis Foster as well as Rebecca and Dennis’ son Andre for cleaning up after the Feed.
A big shout-out goes to the kitchen staff as well for a delicious, timely and top of the line meal especially Yvette Roberson, Tammy Rominger and Rebecca for running that kitchen like a Wolfgang Puck establishment. Special thanks also go out to our esteemed Board President, Rich Jenness and 0 period coordinator Rich Riffle for cracking some serious crab (and they claim they still smell like seafood)..
I would like to also thank all the people who ran raffles, sold glow sticks, took tickets at the door, set up the Vets Center so that we could host this event and those who slung beer and wine for us (although they were probably thanked most and had best access to the libations). We had countless volunteers who we were lucky to have and whom we appreciated greatly.
I would like to thank Mike Satre for once again being a patient and perfect Master of Ceremonies as well as taking on the new role of auctioneer.
I would like to thank the players for their professionalism, their courtesy and their desire to do things “the right way.” We talk about two types of class, 1st class and no class. They definitely approached Saturday evening as they have on other occasions where they have represented our school, with 1st class.
I would like to thank all those sponsors who donated presents, prizes and sponsorships, without you there would be no Crab Feed and in all likelihood no program since every cent we need to operate our program we need to raise through our fundraisers. I would also like to thank those who purchased items for helping us to try and run a quality program. Special congratulations go out to Robin and Sean Murray for winning the evenings highest bid.
I would like to thank all those who attended for helping to create a football community we can be proud of. One of the greatest benefits of the Crab Feed is that it allows us to connect or reconnect with each other. There is strength in community and the more we connect, the stronger we become. It takes all of us to run a football team in these economic times and in our current society. We especially need parents who are willing to give their time and energies in the hopes of having their sons/daughters be part of something special. These years go by so fast that I pity those parents who do not take an active part in experiences like this either as a patron and/or volunteer. There is a place for everyone and ideally every parent should try to assist in some way through volunteering their time or resources, so that our program can continue to exist. The values we hold as the cornerstone of our program are often values that are in short supply in today’s world. Our hope is that events like the Crab Feed and at the other times when we get together as a football community, we are refocusing our commitment to providing opportunities for our student athletes to be great sons, community members, teammates, students and finally players who understand the 5 principles of honor, integrity, togetherness, toughness and sacrifice. Thank you for sharing this vision!
Go Blue Devils!

**PS I know I have forgotten others who also worked hard to make this event a success. I apologize in advance for anyone I excluded.**
